A quality baby play mat is an investment. And like any investment, it deserves proper care. The good news is that a cotton and natural wool mat is much easier to maintain than it looks.
Machine washing: yes, you can
Although we recommend hand washing in cold water, the Maison Theo mat can be machine washed. Delicates or wool programme, cold water (maximum 20°C), no spin. Do not use fabric softener: it leaves residues in the fabric that can irritate your baby's skin.
Detergent: what to use
Mild, fragrance-free liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents. The recommended amount is half the normal dose.
Easy to wash. Designed to last for years. Cotton and natural wool.

Never in the tumble dryer. Heat can shrink the cotton and alter the wool filling. Lay the mat flat on a level surface, away from direct sunlight.
Spot cleaning
For small stains you do not need to wash the whole mat. Use a damp cloth with a few drops of mild soap and rub gently in circles from the outside towards the inside of the stain.
